Fun Summer Learning Activites

Hi Falcon Families! 

Even though it's Summer, there are still plenty of fun ways to keep learning and to keep your brain active throughout the months away from school! Below are just a few ideas:

1. Plan a dream vacation! Imagine you have $5,000 to spend on the vacation of your choice. Would you go somewhere tropical, or somewhere with snow? Who would you take with you? Spend time looking up the place you would want to stay, where you would want to go out to eat, and all of the fun activities you would do. Also, add up the costs and see if you are able to stay within budget. Have fun planning!

2. Try Summer Sketching to work on your art skills! Whether you are sitting outside or spending time with your family, choose a scene to sketch and watch your skills improve throughout the Summer. Get creative!

3. Read some books you usually wouldn't have time to read! I know that during the school year, with homework and after-school activities, it can be difficult to find time to sit and read for fun. Use this extra time to read some fun summertime books! Some suggestions:

• Two Whats?! and a Wow! Think & Tinker Playbook by Mindy Thomas and Guy Raz (Grades 3-7)
• The Last Last-Day-of-Summer by Lamar Giles and illustrated by Dapo Adeola (Grades 3–7)
• Camp by Kayla Miller (Grades 3–7)
• Keeping Score by Linda Sue Park (Grades 3–7)
• Baseball in April and Other Stories by Gary Soto (Grades 3–7)
• Harris and Me by Gary Paulsen (Grades 5–7)

4. Invent something new! There are plenty of problems we encounter every day that could use a unique solution. Think of a new invention and plan how you would sell it to people. You could even write out a script and try to sell the product to a friend or family member, or record a "commercial" for your new invention.
